Tested in the Tunnel, Proven in the Ring

FiberSport ran a series of wind-tunnel tests on every discus we design, layering real wind conditions on top of rim-weight percentage to see how each disc actually behaves in flight. The result is a distance rating for every FiberSport discus — so selecting and fitting the right disc is a science, not a guess.

What We Discovered

Balance Beats Brute Force

Getting a discus to lift — and stay stable once it’s up there — was the real challenge. Older designs pushed rim weight too far out toward the edge, which made the disc tip as rotation ran out. FiberSport re-balanced the relationship between plate and rim to give throwers more rim control. Less tip, more glide — up to 12 feet (3.5m) farther through the air.

Further Science

Flight Data, Not Guesswork

We fitted sensors inside test discs to capture gravity, gyroscopic spin, tip stability, and flight distance in real time. That data pointed to one clear conclusion: throwers need more than one rim-weighted discus in the bag. Conditions change — your equipment should be able to change with them.

Three Variables

What Actually Determines Flight

Wind Conditions Live air conditions at the point of release.
Rim Weight % How mass is distributed between plate and rim.
Rotational Distance How spin rate translates into stable flight.

Put those three together and you can match the right discus to the day — not just the event.
